offgen documentation

Connect SharePoint

Give offgen read-only access to selected SharePoint sites and verify the connection.

Connect one or more SharePoint sites when offgen needs to use company documents as context. Access is read-only and limited to the sites you approve. offgen cannot access the rest of your Microsoft tenant.

Before you start

You need:

  • Owner or administrator access to your offgen organization.
  • The SharePoint site URL, for example https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/Marketing.
  • A SharePoint administrator who can complete the Microsoft sign-in. A Global Administrator may also need to approve offgen once for your tenant.

Connect a site

Open SharePoint settings

Sign in to app.offgen.ai, open Settings → SharePoint, and select Add site.

Enter the site URL

Paste the SharePoint site URL. Use the site address, not a link to an individual file or folder.

Connect with Microsoft

Select Connect with Microsoft. A SharePoint administrator signs in and approves read access to this site. The administrator's sign-in is used only to create the connection.

Verify the connection

When you return to offgen, the site should show Connected. Select Browse files and open a folder to confirm that offgen can read the site.

offgen currently reads the site's default document library. If the documents are stored in another library on the same site, contact your offgen account team.

If the site shows Action needed

Action needed usually means your Microsoft tenant has not yet approved the Sites.Selected application permission for offgen.

  1. Select Grant admin consent next to the site.
  2. Ask a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator to complete the approval.
  3. Wait a few minutes, then select Browse files again.

This approval enables scoped SharePoint access for your tenant. It does not give offgen access to any site that you have not connected.

Grant access manually

If your organization cannot use the Microsoft connection flow, expand Grant access manually in the Add site dialog. The page guides an administrator through three steps:

  1. Approve offgen for the Microsoft tenant.
  2. Grant read access to the selected site with Microsoft Graph Explorer, Azure CLI, or PnP PowerShell.
  3. Select I've already granted access so offgen can verify and save the connection.

The request URL, request body, and commands are generated from the site URL you entered. Microsoft Graph Explorer is the simplest option if you do not normally use Azure CLI or PowerShell.

Automated imports

If an automated SharePoint import is configured for your organization, it appears below the connected sites. You can check its setup, start an import, and view previous runs. Contact your offgen account team if you need a new automated import.

Disconnect a site

Open Settings → SharePoint and select Disconnect next to the site. offgen stops reading the site immediately and also tries to remove the underlying Microsoft permission. You can reconnect the site at any time.
