API keys
Create, use and revoke organization API keys for AI tools and integrations.
An API key lets an AI tool or integration use offgen on behalf of your organization, for example an MCP client that can't sign in with OAuth. offgen has no public REST API; keys authenticate the MCP server. See the FAQ.

Create a key
- Open API Keys.
- Under Create API key, enter a Name and choose an Expiry: 30 days, 90 days, 365 days or No expiry.
- Select Create key.
- Copy the key from API key created. It is shown only once.
Creating a key needs an active plan. Without one you see An active subscription is required to create API keys.
Treat a key like a password
Anyone with the key can use offgen as your organization. Don't commit it to code, paste it into slides or share it in chat. Revoke it if it leaks.
Use a key
Keys start with offgen_ and belong to the organization that created them. Send the key in one of these headers:
Authorization: Bearer offgen_your_key
X-API-Key: offgen_your_keyFor AI assistants, Use offgen in AI assistants (MCP) has the API key setup for each client. Requests made with a key are attributed to the person who created it. Keys stop working when they expire, when they are revoked, or when your organization's plan is no longer active.
Revoke a key
- Open API Keys.
- In the Keys list, select the revoke action next to the key.
- Confirm with Revoke key.
The key stops working immediately, and every integration that uses it stops too. This can't be undone. To disconnect an AI tool that signed in with OAuth instead, use Connected AI apps in your account.
