offgen is designed to help you create cleaner, more consistent presentations in minutes, not hours. Let's get started!
Installation
Open the Add-ins menu
In PowerPoint, navigate to Insert → Get Add-ins
(or Home → Add-ins depending on your version).
Search for offgen
Look for "offgen.ai" or "offgen PowerPoint Add-in" in Microsoft AppSource.
Install offgen
Click Add to install the add-in.
The installation typically takes less than a minute.
Open offgen
Once installed, the offgen tab will appear in your PowerPoint ribbon.
offgen runs natively in PowerPoint — on Windows, Mac, and PowerPoint Online.
System Requirements
- PowerPoint Version: PowerPoint 2016 or later, or PowerPoint Online
- Operating System: Windows 10+, macOS 10.14+, or web browser
- Internet Connection: Required for AI features
First Launch
When opening offgen for the first time, a short walkthrough highlights the essential tools:
- Smart Alignment – clean layouts in one click
- Check & Fix – detect and correct formatting inconsistencies
- Get-Set – copy spacing, colors, and sizing across elements
- AI Text Tools – rewrite, shorten, extend, or translate content
You can reopen the walkthrough anytime under Settings → Guided Tour in the offgen tab.
Setting Up AI Features
To use AI-powered features, you'll need to:
- Create an Account: Sign up for an offgen account (free tier available)
- Choose AI Model: Select your preferred AI model from the settings
- API Key: Optionally provide your own OpenAI API key for unlimited usage

Interface Overview
offgen's interface consists of several key sections:
Action Groups
Located in the main panel, organized by category:
- Align: Shape alignment and distribution
- Text: Text formatting options
- Transform: Layer control and shape operations
- Get-Set: Property transfer tools
- Slice: Shape slicing tools
- Stretch: Shape stretching and extending
AI Chat
Access the AI assistant by clicking the chat icon. Use natural language to:

Smart Suggestions
Context-aware recommendations appear based on your current selection, showing the most relevant actions.
Quick Actions
Try these quick actions to get familiar with offgen:
- Select multiple shapes → Use "Align Center" to align them horizontally
- Select a shape → Use "Get Size" then select others and "Set Size" to match dimensions
- Open AI Chat → Ask "Make all text bigger" to see AI in action
- Select shapes → Use "Distribute Horizontal" to space them evenly
